Privacy policy

miamily.com.au is the official Australian home of MiaMily, run by Coolkidz Australia Pty Ltd (ABN 98 293 897 047) of 1 Beyer Road, Braeside VIC 3195, the exclusive Australian distributor of MiaMily luggage. In this policy, "we", "us" and "MiaMily Australia" mean Coolkidz Australia Pty Ltd. We handle your personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). This page explains what we collect, why, who we share it with and how to reach us.

What we collect

  • Order details: your name, email, phone, delivery and billing address, and what you bought. Payment card details go straight to the payment provider you choose at checkout. We never see or store your full card number.
  • Account and newsletter details: your email and name if you create an account, join the newsletter or enter a competition.
  • Support and warranty details: what you tell us when you contact us, including order numbers, photos of a product and proof of purchase for a warranty claim.
  • Ask MiaMily conversations: the questions you type into the Ask MiaMily assistant on this site, the answers it gives, the page you were on and a random session code. Please do not type personal details into the assistant; it is for product questions.
  • Reviews: your name, review text and any photos you choose to publish.
  • Browsing data: pages visited, device and browser type, approximate location from your IP address, and how you arrived at the site, collected through cookies and similar tools described below.

Why we use it

  • To take your order, deliver it, send you tracking and answer your questions.
  • To handle returns, warranty claims and product registrations.
  • To send you MiaMily news and offers if you have opted in. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
  • To answer your questions through Ask MiaMily and to let our team read those conversations so we can improve the answers and follow up when the assistant could not help.
  • To understand how the site is used and to show you relevant advertising on other platforms.
  • To run competitions and giveaways you enter, under their published terms.
  • To meet our legal obligations, including tax, consumer law and product safety.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only with services that help us run this store, and only what each one needs:

  • Shopify hosts the store, processes orders and stores customer accounts.
  • Payment providers offered at checkout process your payment under their own privacy policies.
  • Delivery carriers receive your name, address and phone number to deliver and track your parcel.
  • Klaviyo sends our email newsletters and order-related emails.
  • Anthropic processes Ask MiaMily questions to generate answers. Conversations are stored in our own systems for our team to review.
  • Judge.me collects and publishes product reviews.
  • Google and Meta receive browsing and advertising data through cookies and pixels so we can measure the site and run ads.
  • Our support portal provider stores the messages you send through help.coolkidz.com.au.
  • Coolkidz Australia group companies and brands, so that one team can look after your order and, if you have opted in, tell you about our other family brands.
  • Professional advisers, insurers and regulators where the law requires or permits it.

We do not sell your personal information.

Overseas disclosure

Some of the services above store or process data outside Australia, mainly in the United States (Shopify, Klaviyo, Anthropic, Google, Meta and Judge.me). We choose providers that commit to protecting personal information and we only share what is needed for the service.

Cookies and tracking

Cookies are small files placed on your device by your browser. We use three kinds:

  • Essential cookies keep your cart and checkout working. The site cannot run without them.
  • Analytics cookies (Google Analytics and Shopify analytics) tell us which pages are used and how people move through the site.
  • Advertising cookies and pixels (Google Ads and Meta) let us show MiaMily ads to people who have visited the site and measure whether ads led to a purchase.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies will stop checkout from working. You can opt out of Google Analytics at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout and manage ad preferences in your Google and Meta account settings.

How long we keep it

  • Order and warranty records: seven years, to meet tax and consumer law obligations and to honour the limited lifetime warranty.
  • Newsletter details: until you unsubscribe, then removed from active sending lists.
  • Ask MiaMily conversations: up to twelve months, then deleted.
  • Support messages: as long as needed to resolve the matter, then archived under our records policy.

Security

The store runs on Shopify, which is PCI DSS compliant, and all pages are served over HTTPS. Access to customer data inside our team is limited to the people who need it to serve you. No online service is completely secure, so if you believe your information has been compromised please contact us straight away.

Children

MiaMily luggage is used by children, but this website is for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. Photos of children that customers choose to share in reviews or competitions are published only with the consent of the adult who submitted them.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it where we are not required to keep it. Email hello@coolkidz.com.au and we will respond within 30 days. There is no charge for a request, though we may charge a reasonable cost for large copies.

To stop marketing emails, use the unsubscribe link in any email or contact us.

Complaints

If you are concerned about how we have handled your information, contact our Privacy Manager at hello@coolkidz.com.au or by post to Privacy Manager, Coolkidz Australia Pty Ltd, 1 Beyer Road, Braeside VIC 3195. We will acknowledge your complaint within seven days and aim to resolve it within 30. If you are not satisfied with our response you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

Changes to this policy

We update this policy when our practices or the law change. The date at the top shows the current version. Material changes will be noted on this page.
